Richard Hawken, Lordes and SlideSports combine to take the podium

Last weekend saw the first two races of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2018 get underway and a debut for Richard Hawken. Hosted at the legendary Brands Hatch circuit, a wet and slippery weekend saw drivers struggling with the tricky conditions. Richard, with only one days practice in the newly built Porsche, drew upon his skill and experience to take 5th place in the opening race, and then improved on that in the second, to take the podium in 3rd place. A remarkable achievement given the difficult conditions and the calibre of the field.

Richard commented, “It was an absolutely fantastic first weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup”, he continued to say, “with no testing at all, if you'd have said to me on Thursday you'll be on the podium Sunday, I would have thought you're nuts. The Carrera requires a unique style of driving, which with help from my team, we have made great progress. With thanks to my amazing sponsor Lordes Luxury Car Storage, who were here offering support, Mark Jenkins, Chris Jones and the SlideSports team for making the weekend perfect”.

Next stop for Richard and the team, Donington Park.
